Stargate ( 15th Anniversary Edition )

Has it really been 15 years since Stargate was released ?, I have clear memories of going to see the movie at the cinema and it certainly doesn't seem like it was 15 years ago.

I've always enjoyed Stargate despite it's somewhat typical action movie climax letting things down a little at the end and I've owned several different versions of the movie over the years including the disastrous first Blu-ray release of the film, thankfully the 15th Anniversary Edition is an outstanding release in terms of picture and sound quality and easily the best release of the movie I've seen.

I was a little disappointed with the extras on the disc but the quality of the movie makes up for that, this is the release of the movie fans have been waiting for.

X factor finals, the most excitement I've had in ages.

Yeah, I know, How sad am I?


But I don't really care, this is, without a doubt, the best X factor final EVER.


Awesome.


So, One Direction have went out, just biding time before either Rebecca or Matt is crowned winner.


I don't know who I want to win. 


Rebecca is so adorable and has an amazing voice.


Matt on the other hand is a honey and has an amazing voice.


BLAH!


Don't know if it's just me, but I feel like a psychopath going "Hahaha!" online. Makes it feel as if I am right up in your face doing a forced laugh.

Matt just performed "Many of horror". C'mon toots, you can't beat Biffy!!

Love him like, but still...

Rebecca's wasn't AMAZING either to be honest, both have sung better.

Now I'm mega confused over who I want to win.

Sleepy, sleepy days.

I'm going to get right in there with the Confession.

CONFESSION OF A MOVIE GEEK:

I slept until 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

Eeeeek.

You know what, I can admit I'm lazy. But getting up at that time? I'm even ashamed of myself.

Emmm... had a pizza and Chicken Strippers from Domino's... Om nom nommy!

Also, watched X factor. All I can say is wow!

Matt and Rihanna duet? That was HOT!


No, seriously, so very very hot, could hardly handle it! 


"Unfaithful" duet incase you missed it!


So obvious he was starstruck. Then, half way through the performance, he started staring at he legs.


It was when she first came on though, loved it, his facial reaction was adorable.

Eeeeeek. 

Cher's performance was less... wow...

Although, she sung better than Will.I.Am in my opinion! 

But look what she wore....

Is it just me or did Cher look an AWFUL lot like the Penguin in Batman Returns?

Cher doesn't want you to know this but this is her Father.

Also, Mum DID buy Katy Perry tickets for me and Halle!!

Oh no she didn't. Oh yes... she did.

Can't describe how much I love my Mum.

She's awesome.

If I can think of a great present to get her for Christmas, I'll buy her it.

She deserves it.

The Friday club

I am so bad at getting up on Friday mornings.


Got to bus stop at 8.07... Bus just pulled away. FML.


Was waiting until 8.30 for another bus, wasn't too cold though. Scott came to the bus stop as well so was having a nice chat with him.


He told me that he plays games at his work, like a word of the day type thing, where you've got to slip in a word into conversation with a customer.


Like Boo yah.


BUT you can't have it in a new sentence. Problematic.


He doesn't know if anyone managed it cause he left before the day was over. Booo! I'm intrigued now.


He also played limbo with the store shutters with his co-workers.


Where does this kid work and where do I apply?


Getting to school was so difficult, it was like an ice rink! (and if you read my previous post, you'll know that Me + Ice = BAD TIMES!)

So hung out with Halle, Emma and Scott.


And did Maths homework... what's wrong with me?


Emma was speaking about her job, she says that she's been given a few warnings.

EMMA: Someone keeps reporting me for hitting on my manager.

SCOTT: Stop hitting on him then!

EMMA: I don't hit on him though, he's gay!

Halle almost stole a muffin from the Hot bar. You could see it in her eyes, she wanted one :)


Also, we laughed at the number 69.

ENGLISH

Fair to say we did NOTHING.


Mr Murphy took us through half of one passage in GREAT detail... Was so close to falling asleep. I could feel my head nodding up and down and my eyes struggling to stay open.


Sorry dude. I'll blame the cosy temperature of the room and the sleep deprivation.


Halle gave me a muffin at break. Love her.


MATHS


Sophie had the cutest earmuffs

Minus the Santa hat. That kid can make anything look good.

Mr Hughes was jealous of that fact, he asked Sophie to take em off.

Rebellion, Sophie did not.

Mr Hughes asked again.

Sophie refused.

Mr Hughes isn't very doesn't seem to be an authority figure... I think it's because he tries to be your friend rather than your teacher...

He got off of his seat and Sophie squealed and clutched her earmuffs. She thought he was going to nab them off of her head.

He didn't.

Calum on the other hand? He did.

Betrayal!

We were also talking about the lack of Christmas films... seriously, there's NONE at the cinema this year!

Dougal's going to go see Gulliver's travels because Jack Black in it. I'll probably be dragged along too but I'm hardly psyched for it.

Free period was fun!

Although, we looked up Katy Perry tickets for the AECC next October, just went on sale today (Friday) and guess what?

Completely sold out.

They sold 7,500 tickets in one hour.

CRAZY!

People were upset, including me, didn't know If Mum got or what.

Lauren was on her laptop, taking photos.

I was with my camera, taking photos.

Lauren started blaring out music, So What was playing (Pink Respect!)

Mr Hughson (One of the year heads) stood at the door, whilst we were all sitting on tables, listening to music and playing about with our phones.

We all noticed him fairly quickly and stopped.

Lauren did not and "So What" kept on playing for a whiley after Mr Hughson entered. Then she kind of looked up to see why we all went quiet, Saw Mr Hughson and slowly pressed stop on the laptop.

MR HUGHSON: Is this the Friday club?

SAM: Only sometimes :)

Police Academy 1-7

I've always had a soft spot for the first Police Academy movie and I thought it's first sequel was OK but from then onwards the series suffers a sharp decline in quality, I was recently able to pick up the entire film series box set rather cheap.

Over the last few days I've watched all seven on the movies and my opinion remains pretty much unchanged, the first couple of movies are decent but watching the rest of the series was pretty hard work at times, there have been rumors of a new Police Academy movie floating around for a while now and I'm not sure that's a good thing, if done right ( and the series has always had a lot of potential ) it could be a lot of fun but if it's bad then it'll be just another Police Academy sequel.

Only had to wait a minute or two at the bus stop, It rocked. Simple pleasures in life eh?

There was an assembly... Can't even remember what they spoke about. Think it was something really boring like UCAS forms and homework. Iccck.

STUDY

Still no teacher (Mrs Murray is in Canada/New Zealand/Africa/Timbuktu) so we were just chillaxing in our study room.

We were playing hangman, was the shortest game I've ever played. They put me up and asked me to do a film... after ten minutes of thinking, I thought of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".

The difficulty with Niamh wasn't in the guessing, but in the creating, didn't have a clue what to put down! 

Then Kirsty came in, just had a lovely chat with her. Her Boyfriend was stuck in Aberdeen cause of the snow! He moved about 5 miles in an hour or two (Ridiculous huh?) So he had to turn back.

She was telling me about her Birthday too :)

MATHS

NOTHING was done. Not even kidding you, I didn't finish one question.

He was yabbling on about this stupid site called glow.

He's putting our homework up online, so of course he's going to get stupid excuses weekly!

You want examples?

"Oh... My computer's down. I couldn't get it."

"...My internet isn't working." 

"Only facebook is working on my computer... What a problem."

And he gave us a lot of pep talks and how we won't pass if we don't do our homework.


It took 45 minutes for that rant to finish.


And then we started a question... we never got to finish it like. So was a bit of a wasted period.


PSYCHOLOGY


We went in (and for one of the first times, Torry kids DIDN'T attempt to trip us up because we were all wearing jackets. CAMOUFLAGE!) to our classroom and the first thing Dod tells us?

DOD: We'll be learning about Pasta today.

ME: Did I walk into H.E. by mistake? 

But wouldn't you be a bit confused? He held up a packet of Fusilli and I made a face in confusion.

Renowned for it's Psychological research on why you comfort eat.

So he asked us to brainstorm... why WOULD we use pasta in psychological research?

SARA: Well, we could ask participants to memorise a shape made out of pasta, then we could send them out of the room, cook the pasta and then ask them to make the shape again out of other bits of pasta.

LUCAS: We could put the pasta pieces in a jam jar and ask people how many pieces are in it. Then we show them eachothers answers and see if they change their answers.

ME: (Spoofing Milgram's Obedience Experiment) We could ask one group of participants to hook up a confederate to an electric shock machine, ask them to give him a shock for every question he gets wrong and see how many people would give him the full 450 volts. THEN, we could do the same experiment with another group of participants, but we could feed them pasta before they do it and see if it changes how many volts they are willing to go up to.

ME: PLEASE let it be the fear of pasta experiment.

It wasn't. We are doing Lucas's suggestion.

DOD: We all know who to go to now if we have to guess how many pasta pieces there are inside a packet of pasta.

Cause that's a very useful skill in today's society, don't want to be cheated by pasta companies!

Ummm... Bev showed me her Schuh tag. So cute. She is employed!

Kristina and Lewis were chucking paper aeroplane's around the study room.

Ermmm... didn't do anything.


Went into town with Michelle and Jennifer after school.


It was nice to see Michelle again, she left school at Summer and have hardly got to see her since.


Was meant to be getting Christmas presents. Failed miserably.


Even worse? Found out who I got for Christmas Santa.


Curses.


One of these years, it will actually be "Secret".


Getting Inception though, couldn't ask for a better present.


Well... I could, But why would I want one? DiCaprio and Nolan? RAWR!


Was trying to look for Dad's present in HMV. Cause he wants a DS game, but I didn't know which one to go for. He wants some old school game heroes, you know the like, Mario, Sonic, Donkey Kong... the classics.


Michelle's idea on what to get him?

ME: Oh yeaaaaaaah... that's really my Dad (!)

MICHELLE: What about Camp Rock 2? 

ME: You're really not helping! 

Went to Burger King after that, was fine! Michelle was totally stealing my Juice and my chips though!


Cause she was one her "Diet".

Also, noticed that a lot of my friends cling onto me when there's ice around.

I'm the least stable person EVER on ice.

CONFESSION OF A MOVIE GEEK: 

I once stood for half an hour behind two stewards at an Ice Rink because the only reason I was able to stand on the ice was because I was edging myself along the wall that they were leaning on. I cannot balance.

10 000 BC

I haven't been overly impressed with any of Roland Emmerich's movies since Stargate, I guess as big dumb popcorn movies they do their job and all of his movies are a visual feast but I find they are very light on story for my taste and the same was mostly true of 10 000 BC but I did like it better than most of his recent output, in fact it reminded me of Stargate at several points during the film.

I picked this up for $5 new in a collectors tin with a film cell so I guess it wasn't well received or at least didn't sell all that well on DVD, ordinarily this is the type of movie I'd catch on TV rather than pay any money for but it was worth the price I paid.

Some of the location shooting done for the movie was rather pretty and it was nice to see some model work instead of just CG used for the special effects which makes a nice change from most recent movies.

Unlike most of Roland Emmerich's movies I could see myself watching 10 000 BC again at some point, it's by no means a great movie but is a decent one.
