One Dollar Origami again o($_$)o

Just another geeky origami post which is LONG overdue. I've been meaning to do more one dollar origami, but I've either been too lazy or actually been doing other things, like watching videos and listening to music and working really, really hard... plus socialising with friends (any excuse really ¬_¬" - lazy Geek is back in the house!).

So I started off with this Simple $ Fish - created by Joshua Koppell... I thought it was going to be hard when I saw the folding for the tail bit, but no, it was very easy! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11426805/scaffold/scaf07.pdf

Next I made this $ Crane by following this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgyrOKZI_YA Quite simple. But lots of folding!

This one is a bit too simple. The instructions on this one are not too great though. But because I used to make many of these (smaller versions) in the past (I have a Ferero Roche box full of them) I knew how to make it! $ Lucky Star http://www.origami-resource-center.com/dollar-lucky-star.html.

This is a very easy $ Duck. I made this after an attempt of trying to make a kayak (I tore the dollar a little bit so I converted it to this duck!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAOqPypO98w

Well, just making these for now. I will be back to do more! :P ....

And now I'm on holiday for TWO WEEKS... This post is actually a clue of where I'm going next! I will try and blog as I go along, but showing pictures on here might be a problem. So you peeps may have to wait until I get back!!

Adios amigos (and no, I'm not going to Mexico!). ^_^

Origami OT

So I haven't done any origami for about 2 months. ¬_¬"" Just being lazy, studying and really just couldn't be bothered... Well that means origami OT (overtime)! I spent 4 hours creating all these pieces and there are some that I skipped because it needed 1 dollar bills (which I couldn't be bothered to get up and find) or printed paper... So fast forward to all these other ones... :D I am now up-to-date (actually a day ahead!) with the origami calendar.

Origami Overload

Right. Time to stop posting about food for a tiny bit and onto something else!

I am a very bad person because I didn't do any origami for a month with my 2008 calendar... However I did manage to catch up (for a short while ¬_¬" - I'm a week behind now)!!

Here's just some of the latest pieces I have managed to fold... I'm afraid I did skip a few because some of the diagrams weren't helpful! I tried to look for videos, but they weren't that helpful too!!

Origami Butterfly
Origami Tote Bag ^_^

This one is in three parts... The divider was the hardest to make!
Origami Matsu box, divider and lid
Origami Picture Frame
Origami Owl
Origami Horse, I couldn't fold the rider  - it was too hard! :(
Origami Russian Cicada
Origami Boomerang Airplane - I thought this didn't work at
the beginning, but it actually worked in the end!

If you want to try out, and you don't mind being 6 months behind for 2012, you can still buy the calendar from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0761162968/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=

One Dollar Bill Origami

One morning I received an email from a friend who saw my interest in origami. The emailed contained pictures of one dollar bill origami! Waaaah. I have seen them before, and luckily there were some designs in my 2008 calendar. So, after work, I went to a bureau de exchange and exchanged £20 for US$31, (someone told me I was geeky for doing that - "who would exchange £20 for $1 bills to do origmai!...." ¬_¬ meeee).

I then attempted these ones.

This one dollar bill bunny was relatively easy to make.

The snail was quite hard. In the end I had to use a Youtube video to finish it.

Ah, my attempted armadillo was hard to make!

Here's a shirt, which is supposed to be part of a pantsuit.

And here's an attempted elephant, (which is not in the calendar). I found the design for this online. ^^

With this next piece I attempted to create Won Park's $Koi Fish, but I think I got the pleating folds all wrong, so I ended up with this pretty $heart. ^^

I've found using dollar bills very easy to use for origami because they are thick and stern, and they don't tear apart so easily!
I won't be throwing these pieces away in case I ever get to the US and will probably tip restaurants and the like using these $1 bills. ^^

I have US$25 left, so hopefully I can do 25 more designs!

Here's a great website you can use:

I'm not very good with pictures and diagrams, so I advise watching videos on Youtube and other video-sharing sites.

Good luck!

It's Easter!! ^^

Yay! It's Easter. 4 days off (and it's very sunny today)! But as I'm not Christian I am still quite grateful for this holiday. Easter is the time to "celebrate" the death of Jesus, however it's changed over the centuries (and that's a history lesson from the geek ¬_¬)...

At work, a person who loves my friend and I so much he gave us a MASSIVE Easter egg shaped as a Lindt Lindor sweet. It's one of the largest "eggs" I've ever seen (not including the Fabergé eggs) ^^.

I love Lindt's Lindor

Waaaaaah... So many Lindor chocolates inside!

Close up of these lovely Swiss made chocolates ^^
A dear friend of mine bought me a Hello Kitty Easter egg for my birthday! As you can see, I have not ate it yet :) (more about Hello Kitty in another post).
I love Hello Kitty ^^
Hope you all have a Happy Easter!! Eat chocolate in moderation!!
And Here's some origami too to pass the day...
