Technology is great until it isn't. I'm not sure where I heard that phrase before but it couldn't ring more true for me personally right now. My husband and I just checked in for our flight on a PC at our hotel to print our boarding passes for our flight from Toronto into NYC. Even though we clicked check in both passenger and selected both passes to print, his pass printed but mine did not. We thought that maybe I had to sign in with my own ID but no luck. So now here I am without a boarding pass on my way to the airport and no iPhone tickets since its international.
Update:
We got to the airport to print our passes from the kiosk. Once I went through security I noticed that my pass was marked "SSSS" my husband didn't have those same markings. Of course I was randomly selected for extra screening. My husband said SSSS stands for "Super Secret Security Scan" where of course I got hand wand-ed twice, I went through the new high power scanner, and got patted down twice by two different women. The positive side I got through security much quicker than my husband.
Update 2:
On the way home going JFK to LAX we were able to use the iPhone passes which was nice, but unfortunately we had to go through the same security scanners. There was no warning or alternative option it was just there. I recently read an article that says studies are still trying to verify if they are safe. That's twice in one trip for me...so I really hope they are safe.
All in all I really do think technology is great even when it may violate us or frustrate us. It is great because it empowers us. It also allow us to explore and capture life and share our adventures and memories with others.
What are some of your adventures with technology and traveling?

Looking through some old drafts... here's a 5th year story for you!
Yes.
I have failed you all.
"Daily" blog has failed completely.
So I'll just give you a little summary for what's been happening to me lately :)
Subject summary first?
Which, if you think about it, is pretty humiliating for the school, cause we're meant to have TWO.
There's rumours of her getting sacked.
In the mean time, we've just been having Mr Moody (an ex drama teacher) teaching us.
He's awesome, he let's us chat, listen to music and tells us stories.
What more could you want from a supply?!
It's also looking as if he's going to be of more use than Miss Alba herself, so win?
We also had Mr Rae, who used to have a moustache that made him look like a walrus, but he's shaved that off now, so he no longer looks like a walrus.
We've just been talking about Harry Potter in all honesty.
Billy admitted that it brought a tear to his eye when (Highlight to reveal SPOILER) ----> Dobby dies.
It brought a tear to my eye too because one of my friends... well... her last name is Dobbie. So whenever I hear Dobby, I think of her... so when Dobby died.... FLOOODS!
Spoilers over.
I'm going to assume that ALL of you know this kid
If you can watch more than 30 seconds, you are either a robot or have had at least seven kids with ADD and constant hyperactivity.
Along with the quote:
Oh yeah, um, English fails.
Calum and Maria went down to see Mrs Fulton (the ONE teacher that is always there, wee legend that she is) and discovered something.
SQA were, until this Friday, allowing last years 5th years who sat the English course last year, to skip the folio section of the course entirely.
And, on Friday, they changed their mind.
Yes. Half way into a teaching year, the SQA changed the rules.
Meaning these people only have a month or two to write a folio.
And then what happened?
Mrs Ashley came into her room and said "It's snowing, I'm away home."
Oh you little warrior woman you...
It's bloody frozen rain! SUCK IT UP!
You can't just go home because it's snowing. If we did that we'd be marked down as truanting.
Speaking of Mrs Ashley... we think she's pregnant.
Sorry, let me rephrase, Sarah thinks she is pregnant.
Which is okay, right, she might be pregnant? Things happen.
BUT... you may forget... she's a lesbian.
And I know there are ways that a lesbian can get a bun in her over (I know this because I typed "How do Lesbians get pregnant" into google whilst logged onto Laura's name on the school computers... you know, the ones that have their internet search histories checked up on every week or so? Yeah, ain't as stupid as you think, I ain't using my own name.)
Mostly by using a Turkey baster or sperm hacking their gay best friend forever.
Or adoption, but considering the circumstances, I can't see that being the cause of her sudden weight gain.
So we all snuck off to the library (all seven of us), hid in the corner of the library and stared at her stomach.
Which, now I think of it, would have made an INCREDIBLY awkward moment if she turned towards us.
It was an even split. Half of us thought she was pregnant, the other half thought she was just getting fat.
To be honest, I don't really register weight gains. They are who they are, I see them for what they are underneath.
But ANYWAYS, we weren't content with the even divide between fat/pregnant, so we turned to google again (still in Laura's name) and typed in "How to tell if someone's pregnant or fat"
We are very blunt.
Something tells me that people write up these articles for a giggle.
My favourite tips?
Ahhh Maths. My nemesis.
Some good times though, was away to walk into the classroom when I heard a scream, naturally, I looked for the source.
It was Sophie, she screamed again and walked towards Danielle and Nicola's table.
And on it?
A HUGE puddle covering the entire four tables.
Yep. There was a leak in the roof (at the light) so it was probablly in the electrics...
So what does Sophie do?
Goes to the light switch and flicks it on.
*Facepalm*
She knew what she was doing! Oh yeah, don't get that wrong.
She just wanted to see what would happen (NOTE: I'm typing this up so nothing colossally bad happened)
Weirdest thing about the roof leaking? We were on the second floor of a three storey building....
It was Sophie's comment to Dougal that had me in fits.
She was wanting to join the Grease chorus, so she asked Dougal to join her
Speaking of Sophie, she came in on Children in Need day... dressed as a Punk...
What can you say?

No. It's not Barbie. It's Bieber.
And I'm going to assume that at least a few of you will know THIS kid...
If you can watch more than 30 seconds, you are either a robot or have had at least seven kids with ADD and constant hyperactivity.
Either that, or you are stoned out of your mind.
Whatever.
Put Fred's voice in Bieber's body, dye his hair brown and TAH DAH!
You get a third year in our School.
BILLY: Wow... You look identical to Justin Bieber.
BIEBER KID: You look identical to Frankenstein.
EVERYONE: OHHHHHH!!!!
BILLY: *looks around classroom before* Did that just happen?
EVERYONE: Yeah.
BILLY: Well........ you look like FAGostein.
BIEBER KID: I don't care if I look like Justin Bieber because that means I'm rich, I'm famous, all the girls love me....
BILLY: Yeah, but you're a lesbian.Classic.

"Intentionally drop a $100 note and see if they will pick it up.
Pregnant women won’t squat down for $100 (not even the kind ones). The entire process requires too much effort. But then again, fat people are usually too lazy to squat down either, in case they burst an artery."
Yeah. That's fool proof. Even if I was morbidly obese, I would go through a whole god damn army assault to get a $100 note!
"Get them to take off their top.
Fat people are usually reluctant to strip, but pregnant women will find any excuse to show off their sexy curves."Scientifically proven (To get you slapped)
"Offer to buy them a beer.
I’ve never seen a fat person refuse a free beer, but pregnant women won’t touch alcohol with a ten-foot barge pole, unless they’re alcoholics, in which case you’ll be feeding their addiction and eventually be responsible if their baby comes out drunk and partially stoned"
Are we remembering that this is a teacher? I'm hardly going to stroll up to her and ask her "Heyyyyyyy Mrs A, wanna go for a beer?"
After that, we STILL weren't content so we searched for Psychics, because... well, because we could.
But we had no luck because the internet gave us horoscopes instead of psychics and nobody bothered to remember her birthday. Honestly guys.
We then searched "How many millions is in a packet of millions, just to confuse the technician who looked up Laura's internet history.

What can you say?
Well, all I can say is I am very confused.
This topic always manages to enrage me.
Drug companies are the confusing character in a film, you can't decide whether they are good or bad. One minute they are saving a life, the next they are robbing your Grandmother. Decisions, decisions.
Media isn't much better. They are so obsessed with fear tactics and celebrities (or rather, "wannabe celebrities") life stories, they forget to print real issues that effect real people. And do you know why they run these stories?
Because they are profitable.

Because they are profitable.
Take that for example. Japan may have just found not one, but two cancer drugs. Okay, so they are still in clinical trials, so it would hardly make front page. But surely it deserves a little bit more space than that. To put it beside an almost full page advertisement for Pork? That's just tasteless. Cancer is a serious matter. Pork is not. Profitability over function, I tell you.
When did the world begin to revolve around money? I know that there must have been a time, a long long time ago when this wasn't the case. Whether you believe in a higher being or not, the human race was not put on this planet to read about men and women who broadcast every single aspect on their life on TV, or attractive, but completely talentless people who claim to be musicians. I'm not entirely sure why we are all here, but I assume it has something to do with helping others and making the most of our time here on earth, mainly by prolonging the time we have.
I can't properly express my disgust by this... so I'll end by simply shaking my head and daydreaming of a day where scientists find a cure for cancer and it's not displayed next to an advertisement for meat.

Who says getting hut by lightening is a bad thing?
A bald, blind and near-deaf man named Edwin Robinson went out during a thunderstorm to find his adopted chicken Tuck Tuck. He soon found the bird, but was struck by lightening before he could get back to safety, after the bolt rebounded off of a tree and struck both of his hearing aids, blowing them out of his ears.
Miraculously, not only was the man unharmed, but also found that his sight had returned. He went in to tell his wife that he could read the plaque that was on the wall. His wife doubted him, and asked him to tell her the time. He told the time to her. Turns out, the lightning strike had returned his vision back to 20/20. Not only that, but he had also been given back his hearing and his hair began to grow once more.
The poor man must have had quite a shock when that happened.

Walt Disney won an honorary Acadmey Award for his 1937 classic 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'. He was awarded with a statuette with seven miniature statuettes attached to it as a nod to seven of the film's most loved characters: the dwarfs. He won the award in 1939, the academy's reasons for the award being presented to him being because 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' was "a significant screen innovation which has charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field".

The first motion picture was filmed in 1878. It was called 'The Horse in Motion' . It was created by aligning a set of twelve stereoscopic cameras along parallel to the race track, all waiting to be triggered via trip wire when the horse galloped past. This resulted in a series of stills that were projected in rapid succession to create the first ever motion picture.
The strange thing is that photographer Eadweard Muybridge didn't even intend to create cinematic history... he took the series of stills due to the fact that he was hired by governor of California Leland Stanford to determine whether or not horses took all four hooves off of the ground whilst trotting. Muybridge discovered that they did in fact take all four hooves off of the ground whilst trotting, but this didn't occur when the hooves were reaching away from the body, but rather when they were all beneath the horse.

To prepare for his role as the Joker in 'The Dark Knight', Heath Ledger locked himself in hotel room for roughly six weeks. He took this period of time to try perfecting his character's every tic and mannerism, but most importantly the sadistic laugh that has become so iconic. Ledger didn't want to copy Jack Nicholson's laugh that he used in his 1989 performance as the Joker in Tim Burton's 'Batman'. He based the Joker's look on punk rocker Sid Vicious and combined it with the mannerisms of 1971 film 'A Clockwork Orange''s psychotic protagonist Alex DeLarge, played by Malcolm McDowell.
Christopher Nolan revealed that Heath Ledger was the only actor that he had in mind to play the Joker, and talked to the actor about the role before the script for the film was even written.

Well as Wild Chevy mentioned we did a nice little mini exchange over on our local forum... www.salmondworks.com/forum ... We had a great time. I was given this awesome Infinity fig to paint and I'll have to say I had a freakin' blast painting this guy. Hoping that this mini exchange will become a regular thing. Annual or Bi Annual. Who knows you just might see some time of mini exchange here on the blog depending on demand of course. Anyhow... enough of my babbling. On with the pictures!

There's no excuse for not taking five minutes out of your day to find a new up and coming band or artist to support. Just go onto youtube and go on a suggestion goose-chase. Spotify's related artists feature is also brilliant when it comes to finding new music to listen to.
Very happy, because this is the first goal I can cross off my 101 in 1001 goals sheet. Worthwhile? I think so.
I've got nothing else to add, so I'm going to leave you with some Icon For Hire lyrics:
"I’ve survived on life support but I’m stronger than I give myself credit for
These conditions only cure when we prepare ourselves for war"

Tiger UK - Lewisham Shopping Centre
OoooooOOOOooooOOoO... There's a new kawaii shop in town! Although I think it's been around in the UK for a while (7 years), I've just never noticed it... I recently went to Lewisham Shopping Centre which is situated in the South East of London. It is a very popular area to go shopping as they also have a market outside the shopping centre and other high street brands... like... Primark ¬_¬.
Now here's the shop I'm talking about. TIGER.
It's like a gift / department store all in one! They sell spices, kitchenware, office stationary, home appliances and loads of other stuff that you wouldn't even think would fit in the store! It's like a European version of the Japanese store MUJI! But very colourful and they do a lot of bargains like 3 for £1 with candlesticks ^_^ ! All prices are very reasonable and it's like a local homeware store.
TIGER is actually from Denmark. Wow, I have never seen a Danish company become popular in the UK before... I think the Swedish got there first with IKEA and H&M. I think we'll have to wait and see if this store will survive the UK market - I'm sure it will. It seems like a great place for Christmas shopping ^.^ !
Here's what Miss Pinky bought for her flat... (Sorry, it's all pink stuff ¬_¬" - It's not my favourite colour... And now you know the reason why I call her Miss Pinky!).
Here's also my snack (a very light lunch) from Marks and Spencer...
So what do I really think - It's a really lovely cutesy store - I would go back again to do some Christmas shopping (and possibly do some stationary shopping!!!) :D
