On my way home from eating in China Town yesterday (will blog about the restaurant next time, as I lost all my pictures, including this one but I had a backup of this picture, whilst reformatting my phone, and the actual back up of my pictures were erased by Kies software... not funny...)... I spotted this poster whilst I was on the bus!

Luckily I looked up otherwise I think I would have missed the opportunity... I actually had to get off the bus and walk back to take this picture.
Talk about defaming fashion and icons!! I am astonished really. David and Victoria Beckham, two fashion icons posed for this? They did, kind of, but those words aren't from them I believe. It took me a while to research and understand about this... As I researched I realised that f***fashion.tv goes to this website theadjacker.is...
Reading their mission just made this all look bizarre but also interesting to see what they were trying to accomplish... The third point made me realise what I was feeling!! Outrage!! However they need to correct their grammar on their vision statement... ¬,¬" Mr Bear would be astonished at the bad grammar if he saw this.

You know what? I knew I was missing an advert blogpost!
I saw this a few weeks ago around London (and the various ad posts are getting a bit popular now or making their way around London). O2 are campaigning for something different. They are trying to make their new and old O2 customers change with, I guess, their new price plans, their upcoming use of 4G and other plans that they have in store for their customers... But is it selling to you? (Not to me really)... And are you that daring person who would change price plans for the better (or for the worse)...

I actually like their video ad, and I love the daring factor that this cat wants to change into a dog... but really? Would a cat REALLY want to be a dog? Hmmm... that's a question for a cat to answer. Dogs might be fun and daring, but cats can be calm and sensible, except when they get into a cat fight... My neighbour's cats are not very clever when it comes to fighting.
I'm not with O2 (except for their broadband service which is moving over to Sky for some reason that I'm not interested in...)...
Is this funny or a not so funny advert? And if you had a cat would you want them to be changed into a dog? (I wouldn't dare that's for sure). My brother Mr Stingy said that the ads are stupid!! Hahahaha!!

This is an advert that is an in-betweener. I love it because it is funny in its own way as we all neglect food items in the fridge and cupboard. But I also hate it because it's taking the mickey out of organisations who protect animals... (which had sparked off a lot of complaints by viewers).
Is Marmite an animal? No it's not. It's a food product that gets neglected by people who buy food products, and once it's opened, and they don't like it they will "neglect" the food product until it expires and then throw it away...
Am I like that? Sometimes... ¬,¬"" My family hates wasting food (my dad especially - ex-chefs don't waste food - I get told off for wasting food)!!
So moral of the advert, don't waste food, don't neglect your food items that are in the back of your cupboard or fridge (especially that jar of Marmite no matter how big or small it is), buy food that you need and not what you want!! ... That reminds me I have a pot of jam being neglected on the side... ¬,¬ whoopsie! ... Now what can I make with that??? Strawberry jam cheesecake!!!
I had one morning off before I went to work last week, and I passed by Elephant and Castle during that morning where I had spotted these quite amusing adverts...
First one is from Miele, a German manufacturer who sell household appliances. This advert is quite amusing showing a vacuum cleaner that has been transformed into a suction monster! Very amusing. We all think that vacuum cleaners are a bit of monster when they suck all the dirt or start playing up, and then you have to buy a new one (personal experience!)... Heheh. I generally like this advert. It's just so simple and brings imagination to advertising! A bit like a Transformer.

The second one is from Lurpak, a Danish dairy brand mostly well known for their butters. I saw this one, and thought why would you be optimistic about adding butter to your cooking...?! And then I read the rest... "Built, Baked and Drenched in Custard"... what's that supposed to mean? The bread that gets drenched in custard in the picture? The butter that gets drenched in custard? What was I not getting? I don't know, but I had to read it on this website to understand what Lurpak was advertising...

Was supposed to have blogged about this weeks ago, but got distracted from losing my phone and having a laptop with a motherboard that needed to be replaced.
One day on the Tube I spotted another Bulmers advert. I wonder why they have switched to the Tube. Will more people see it? Yes. Will more people want to have a drink of Bulmers after sitting on a hot, non-air conditioned train? Yes. Good idea Bulmers! ^_^
They've continued with their In The Beginning theme, and this time they've added curvy, rainbow-like message heading towards a Bulmers bottle of cider...

oOoOoOoOooooOOoOooo... What a scary music video advert from IKEA! This looks like something that the BBC writers would write for Dr Who, or for an upcoming sci-fi...
What's so scary about it? Well for one thing they're using "dolls" to show us IKEA products and also, I guess, a single parents life with a creepy looking son. Couldn't tell you what products they're actually advertising, probably the beds, the desks, draws, shelving and lighting... Not sure about the doll house though. That's probably on display in the IKEA stores. :P
The changing faces showing emotion just makes this advert really creepy. It's probably like watching that film Chucky, which I haven't actually watched in all the years it's been out... I think I'm too afraid to watch it! ... I wondered how much time the designers had to spend on those faces just to get it right for each scene. Seems painstaking.
So go on then, have a look at the video, and see what you think of it! Scary or not scary?
Ooo. I'm impressed by Anchor Butter's new poster ads! I have spotted two so far. They are quite simple cartoon-like ads. But maybe I'm a bit of old fashioned about advertising...
This is the first one I spotted. At first I read it as Laura The Best Dad Ever... But I had a closer look, and it reads "Laura's Toast...Your'e the best dad ever... Can I have a lift?". Heheh. Cheeky ad! ^_^

And then later on in the day, I spotted this one. I couldn't get the full picture because of that silly lamppost which was in the way (I was on the bus, and Miss Pinky was curious of what I was taking a picture of!). This one says "Nan's Crumpets... Turn that frown upside down" meaning ... :( ---> :)

It's a lovely poster. Lovely car. Lovely background. But the message isn't powerful enough. "I want sometimes gets" does not tell the customer to buy this car. It tells me that if you're able enough you can 'sometimes' get the things in life... But ti should have said 'I want ALWAYS gets'. The things that you want in life, you will always get!
Ok, yes, for arguments sake, not all the things you want you can 'always' get, and you can only get it 'sometimes'... I get the point... But to be more convincing for a car ad, you have to be positive and convince your customer to buy this car...
Some people may like this ad but I think it's back to the drawing board peeps...!!
Bummer. There were so many bad poster adverts out in London a couple of months ago and I didn't get a chance to take a picture of them because I was either on the bus (bus was moving too fast) or I wasn't thinking straight.
I may not be the best advertising expert out there, but I know when I see a bad advert. I seem to bend my head in shame, scratch my forehead and roll my eyes all in one go... ¬_¬" Or I give the one eye curious look. Let's not go into that.

I'm talking about this... hmmmm ASDA are really good with their TV ads, but come on we know you can do better than this! There are many ways of showing how competitive you are in prices!

OMG! What the heck is this all about?! Were there any female opinions of this before it was put out there in the public? I hope there was. The message 'The drink's pure, it's your mind that's the problem' is SPOT ON! I was a little offended at the poster at first, but it's an "energy drink". I think they should try and rename it! Young kids will ask what this is, and I don't think parents will be pleased... :S They'll have to say it's a pussy cat rather than a pussy energy drink... And they made a mistake... Hahahahaha!!

This one isn't too bad. But very cheeky. "Take us away with you" almost implies that you should take the insurance company workers with you on holiday... But itreally means insure yourself before you go, and use the company when you're in trouble on holiday...

So, which country to start off with???
Hong Kong - IKEA毛公仔祝您聖誕快樂！"Wish You All A Merry X'mas". (It actually means: "Soft toys wishing you a merry Christmas). Yay!! I found the Hong Kong IKEA ad!! It was released on the 22nd December on YouTube, so I'm glad I waited. This is a cutsey ad. It's similar to the Malaysian / Singapore one. Soft toys and IKEA items are used and they are saying thanks for purchasing the soft toys, as the money goes to kids who cannot pay for their education. In Hong Kong, you have to pay for your education!
China - Dove Chocolate 德芙-房祖名分享篇. Awww!! Mega cute, lovey dovey ad!! Dove is actually called Galaxy in the UK. I have no idea why they've given it another name for the international market. And Dove in the UK is a soap brand! Anyway, this ad is great. I think it's part of a series of Dove Chocolate ads in China. The guy in the ad goes and visits his potential girlfriend and gives a box of Dove Chocolates to her... But then she gives the chocolates to her friends who are at her house partying, she then asks the guy where are her chocolates... Poor guy! He has to go and buy another box of Dove Chocolates! :D I love this ad!!

Hungary - T-Mobile Szitál a hó. I thought T-Mobile have switched to EE with Orange!! Clearly not all around the world it hasn't. Well, this is a nice ad from T-Mobile. I love the song. And they are "advertising" some phones in the ad. But I think it's about price plans again!
Iceland - Tengjum saman jólin - Vodafone (Join Together at Christmas). Oooh! This is a different type of ad from Vodafone. Clearly Iceland has a very musical taste to their ads. Very Christmas-y with a school concert and showing people that they can connect to other parts of Iceland by recording videos and sending them across! Nice ad! I like!
Korea - 김수현 뚜레쥬르 (Kim Soo-hyun in Tous les Jours). Awww. I never knew Korea has a Winter Wonderland!! This is my type of ad. A cute guy (Kim Soo-hyun) is on the train dreaming of going to Winter Wonderland. But this ad is actually about the Korean bakery Tous les Jours. Yes, it's confusing! Well for me it was... As you can see at the end of the ad they show Christmas cakes, which confused me as I thought it was about Winter Wonderland. But anyway, this is a good ad.
Searching for the Scandinavian ones... For some reason they are very hard to find!! Anyway I found this one...
Denmark - Fisketorvet Shopping Mall. Ack. Santa is a thief!! Not really. This Danish Santa goes into the Fisketorvet Shopping Mall in Copenhagen to play with toys and check out the latest sprays etc, etc. He is actually all alone looking for gifts. And somehow at the very end of the ad he ends up with all these shopping bags and gift boxes. Was there a person at the checkout? Because it looked like the shopping mall was closed. Must be a self checkout in there! Hahahah!!
Portugal - Lojas CEM. From all the Portuguese Christmas ads, I had to choose this one to show. Well. What can I say. Lojas CEM is a an electronic store like COMET or PC World in the UK. This advert seemed to have advertised one or two items from its sotre, and all I could see in this advert were too many people smiling, and showing off their teeth. What's with this advert?! Not a very good advert I'm afraid... :(
Slovakia - Raffaello - Viac nez tisic slov (More than a thousand words). Aww. This is a nice ad. In this ad the handsome husband picks up a box of Raffaelo before he goes home to his family. The pretty wife is decorating the tree with her children who passes the decorations to their mother. The wife has her back turned away, and doesn't realise her husband is home who hands over the box of Raffaelo into her hand whilst she is still decorating. Pretty ad! I like it! ^_^
Spain - Burguer King - Merry Cheesemas (Burger King). Ok Spaniards. It doesn't snow in Spain. That's what caught my attention at the start of this advert... Or does it really snow over there...?! Anyway. This is a cheesy advert from Burger King, Spain. I still think the Spaniards talk so fast. Not sure what the girls are saying and what the boyfriend at the end with the shiny teeth is meant to be there for... It's a cheesy ad.
Turkey - Noel Baba da Media Markt'a bakmadan almıyor! (Santa does not look at the Media Markt - that's what I think it means). Right. Turkey got their weather conditions right in this ad, because it doesn't snow over there too! But what makes me laugh about this ad is that there's a doctor trying to cure Santa! I guess this Turkish Santa couldn't find presents this year to give around and has no money to buy them because he's busking on the streets of Turkey! And so the doctor had to take him to Media Markt where he found loads of presents! Hah! Funny advert!
And to round off this post with one last cheesy advert from...
Hong Kong - 3M Command. Yes. Hong Kong have cheesy ads too. 3M Command is a company that sells adhesive hooks that stick onto walls. So in this ad the wife says to her husband that there is no need to use nails (as it will leave holes) to hang their Christmas decorations but to use 3M Command's adhesive hooks! Oh my... (Don't worry I have seen worse Hong Kong ads in the past)...

Oh I looooooove this advert from Harvey Nichols - 'Avoid A Same Dress Disaster'!! I am not much into buying their clothes, but seeing this ad just made me laugh! :D It was like watching a battle of survival of the fittest, and it is such a GEEKY ad! I'm sure all the men (but not sure for all the fashionista women out there) will love this one!!
In this ad, two women show up at a party with the same red dress on. They give each other the evil stare and then... The LASER EYES come out and the battle begins to get rid of each other. As only one lady at that party had the right to wear that one red dress! I also found the little dog in the ad amusing as it also had laser eyes! Hahahah!! ^^ At the very end of the ad a third lady joins in the battle who also had the same red dress on! Harvey Nichols is trying to say 'don't go shopping in that cheap place where everyone else is going to go to!' ^_^
Well done Harvey Nicks for making me laugh. Good advert! (^_^)v So will you be going to Harvey Nichols to buy that extra special dress?! ^_^ Good luck in avoiding those evil eyes!
Ok, I had no intention of blogging about the IKEA adverts, so I was forced asked by Miss Pinky to write a little bit more about them. (She's a TV addict, and she doesn't admit to it! She's also reading my blog and has started to giving me critical feedback! ¬_¬).
I have already posted about the Malaysian/Singapore and Thailand ad, so here's the some of the other ones from around the world plus of course the one from the UK...
UK - Playing With My Friends. This is a cute ad. A one minute long ad compared to all the other IKEA ads I've seen. This is of a little girl who is helping out and making the table for a Christmas lunch party. The adults are dressed up and are also helping out. I love the robot with its laser eyes and magnetic body! Miss Pinky says she loves the big teddy bear, and her brother Master H loves the action figure who looks a little bit like He Man. Hah! A fun ad and I like the song too. ^^
USA - The Perfect Holiday. This reminds me of a Desperate Housewives episode. Some Americans housewives are such perfectionists (note that I said some because I know that not every person is a perfectionist)! This housewife knows the typical things her family and friends will be doing in her house, and so she shifts everything around to make it a great dinner party. It's an ok ad. Not the best IKEA ad I've seen so far.
Germany - Alles ist erleuchtet (Everything is Illumuniated). Ah, the Germans have taste. I really like this ad. They're just advertising candles here. See how many usages a candle can make! Amazing. But I think there's more that the Germans could advertise for IKEA!
Portugal - Jantar Familia MESA. I love that dog. This one's a bit different to the other IKEA ads. At least they're saying what they're advertising in this ad. A table! Hahah! ^^
Spain - Navidad. My god! The Spanish speak so fast! In this one the father gets pushed around in a shopping trolley by his wife. The son spots a Christmas display, and shouts to his father to look. This is a very simple and short ad. It shows the Spanish's festive spirit. :D
France - NJUT ! génération. I like this one. Inventive. It shows the French's fun side of things! :D Here, the father loves his family friends and wants to get the perfect family picture. He sees a picture of a tree on a wall and decides to move everyone around to get the perfect 'Christmas familytree picture' - in generation order of course. Love it! Love the music too!
Czech Republic - Vánoce. Nice ad. A bit too much talking for me in this one though. Fish in the bath tub (where did they get that idea?). Kids being naughty. And the adult taking over the remote control car! Hah!
The French and the German ones have to be my favourite. ^^ It was hard finding the Scandinavian ones, plus a few of the other countries haven't put their ads onto YouTube yet... :(
It's now December and in continuation from my last post on international Christmas ads for this year, I went in search for more. I did the same thing as last time by translating 'Christmas adverts' or 'Christmas' on Google Translator. But first I found the obvious ones in English...
Canada - Runway. If I didn't read the title of this advert, I would've thought this was about spending time with the family or another type of John Lewis ad... But no, it's about about hardware, electrical equipment, tools and furniture! Hah, that got me!
Ireland - SPAR. Hah! This one cracks me up. This one looked like a tourist ad, like 'Come and Visit Ireland' type of ad. Or an ad that was selling Christmas trees. You have to watch it to the very end to find out what this ad is all about. SPAR. The convenience store... ¬_¬" OMG. Never would've thought so...!!
And now with the not so obvious ones...
Sweden - Elgiganten. This one is quite good. A convincing Christmas ad like the IKEA ads I've seen. All about electrical goods which is what this ad is all about! Andorra - ESPOT TR3SC NADAL. I simply had no idea what this ad was about. I had to do a little Internet research on this one. But first, I have to say, it's a very simple advert with a few computer graphics used. Club TR3SC is actually a site that helps you book tickets for concerts, cinemas, museums etc... A bit like lastminute.com. Interesting! China - Bar beer (Kirin). OMG. This is in Mandarin. I think Chinese people like to use puns in their commercials! They use "Bar" (indicating 'Bar' Beer the product) at the end instead of "ba 吧", which is a character/particle used to end the phrase. "圣诞来吧!" Christmas is coming! A convincing ad from China! But still OMG! Denmark - Fang Julemanden. Huh?! I have no idea what this is about! All I can make out is that they want to kill Santa... And there's some crazy people dressed up. Is this for a family outing somewhere like the cinema? I think I will need to ask my Danish friend about this one! Netherlands - 5000 for life. Clueless? So am I. This looked so anti-Christmas with the way the family wanted to get away from all those Santas!! Hahahah! Well as a guess and another Internet search it's about the National Lottery. ^_^ Don't we all want to win some money before Christmas!! Estonia - Rakvere Joulureklaam. Uh. Clueless again!! This could have been about anything!! Santa delivers presents to all over the world and ends up at a dinner table served with a lot of food. Is this a supermarket ad? I tried looking it up, but I think it's more of a tourism ad to go to Rakvere, which is a town in Estonia... Hm, does anyone know? Finland - Kalaneuvos. I found another Finnish ad! ¬_¬" And another OMG from The Geek!! Well. What I can I say to these Scandinavian adverts? Hmmm, this one's about fish... That was quite obvious! The Finnish people are really calm people. You can tell by this guy's voice that he's relaxed, and that Finnish people don't have that many worries like us people in the UK!! Greece - Cosmote. Would you believe me after watching this advert that this is a telecommunications ad? You probably won't. Cosmote is a mobile network company in Greece... This tells me nothing about phones or whatnots. The Greek speak so fast too!! I think they were trying to tell us their price plans... What do you think? Any Greeks care to explain? Korea - Baskin Robbins. Awwww. This is cute!!!!! It may be a bit too cold for ice cream, but this Korean ad is just so, so cute!! It's to the point, and leaves you with a tingling sensation of wanting to eat ice cream for Christmas!! Cute!! Latvia - Anttilas Ziemassvetku katalogs. The simplest Christmas ad of all time! Straight to the point! I got it straight away after I watched it. A catalogue for Anttila! Easy!! No guessing here made! Phew! ^^ So what do you think of all these different ads? I'm going to have another search in a few weeks time. My poor red bus has been covered with a horrible iPod advert. As you can probably tell I don't like i-anything! I am not an Apple fan as I keep telling all my friends and family. Expensive. Show offs. And not needed. (Sorry to my friends who use iPhones and to iPhone/iPad/iPod users who are reading this blogpost. Not ¬_¬). Typical anti-Apple talk! Hahahahah...
Apple. We don't need to see a whole bus covered with an iPod advert. We already know it's popular and I'm sure kids will be asking their parents for this at Christmas etc, etc. Keep it simple Apple!
As if London needs more binge drinkers! I saw this advert on Monday and thought well, I am going to try this drink out at some point in the near future (probably this weekend)... But this advert for Carling Zest is just telling me to drink all night, like from 4pm, when the sun goes down. And well, it is a limited edition drink! ...

I've just realised that there's so many alcoholic adverts out lately... It is just typical at this time of the year. :P Are we becoming a nation of alcoholics?
It's almost Christmas!! And a lot of adverts are coming out now on TV and I also wanted to compare some international Christmas adverts with our own British ones. So first I used Google Translator to translate "Christmas advert" or "Christmas" in every possible language that it could translate... This is my first round and I will search for more soon. Here's the first six ads I found...
Finland - The True Spirit of Christmas. Well, is this an ad to make any comments on? Not really. It shows the true Christmas spirit of the Finnish. So do you want to go to Finland for Christmas? I probably would.
Japan - Seven and I セブン&アイ X, (AKB48 in 7-Eleven). Heheh, my brother explained to me who this Japanese girl band are. AKB48 is a group of 48 Japanese girls who have been split up into 3 groups, A, K and B. This sounds so complicated to me! Well, back to the ad, and well, it's 7-Eleven. They are still BIG in Asia. It's such a shame they didn't do so well in the UK. (I miss 7-Eleven). This is a pretty ad of 7-Eleven's food and it shows that the Japanese can celebrate in style as well!! Better than M&S's ad any day... :P
Portugal - O Boticario. Hah!! This one made me laugh. Because I didn't know who O Boticario is. I assumed this ad was going to be about a children's toy store with the way the mother was asking her son questions about what Christmas gifts to buy for relatives... And in the end it was about perfume! Hahahahah. O Boticario by the way, is a pharmacy like Boots.
Slovakia - Kozi Kuzi Kuzuka (Orange). I'm not sure how Orange Mobile fits into this story but if I didn't see the Orange sign on the ad I would've thought this was going to be about food or another John Lewis type ad. But no, it was about connecting to the world with Orange. :D Quite a funny ad I thought, but I think this one could have at least featured a phone from the Orange range.
Malaysia / Singapore - Magical Moments Come to Life (IKEA). Finally an ad that makes sense. And I love it. No talking. Just music and fun using IKEA furniture. This is my favourite international ad so far!
And finally I found this! Thailand - Thai Thai Christmas (IKEA). This is another Christmas advert that made me laugh! It's another IKEA ad and it seems IKEA know how to advertise around the world EARLY! Credit must go to their worldwide marketing team. :D I love this ad but unlike the Malaysian / Singaporean version, this Thai version is a lighthearted and very festive ad. There are subs in this ad, so at least I knew what they were talking about.
I'm hoping to find some more internation adverts in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out! ^_^
Carrying on with the Christmas TV adverts of 2012, here's something from Argos - 'I Can Shop From Here'. This ad has their favourite alien family showing off their new way of shopping online using the new Argos app which you can find here for Android phones, and here for iPhone users, and here for iPad users... I must be a real geek to like this ad... ¬_¬"
It may be a yay or nay for some people, but I thought it was quite funny! Especially at the end when Alien Mother said "Where on Planet Earth are you?". And then Alien Son (I assume that's the son) replies that he bought some great nose clippers for Alien Mother's aunt!! Hahahahahah. Totally geeked me out! (Meaning: 'That totally excited me!').
Oh mon dieu. Non, non, non. Marks and Spencer, what are you doing?
In my previous post I said I really wanted to see those food salivating Marks and Spencer TV Christmas ads. But. What did I come across? 'The Greatest Hits This Christmas' - A Boring. TV. Ad. I have read a couple of reviews and I totally agree with those reviewers. The music mash did not go well together. They went from a Christmasy song to some very modern songs, which in my opinion didn't really go well together. Hmmmm, I think the person arranging the music didn't have any insight. They should've asked a professional DJ to have a listen .. Or at least ask a famous conductor / composer who has a good ear to popular music... But by far, the only good thing about this ad are the adult and children models, and the beautiful clothes AND the dancing... If you haven't seen it in my previous post, here it is again:
M&S you have disappointed me this Christmas. I stamp my feet like a two year old and stick my tongue out like a grown up. :P I really wanted to see a big food ad like the ones you had produced many years ago. Sometimes change is not always good...
On a further note, they have released 48 "TVads" for their website. Would you spend money on 48 different Christmas adverts? I don't think so, and I hope they don't do anymore. I'm not going to show all the videos here but I have watched all 48 of them on YouTube... Oh how exciting. Not.

This next ad reminded me of someone doing origami! ^^ I was quite happy about this one.
In this next ad, I find this guy to be quite cheeky who is talking about the wines for M&S.
And the best ones had to be the kids ads... No talking in these ones... Just kids playing :)
My not-so-favourites, that I thought were quite boring... Well, there were actually quite a lot but here's just a couple...
I find this chef quite boring to listen to. Hardly a tone of excitement, although he smiles in some of the videos.
This one is actually emotionless (I find that some of the people talking in these videos quite emotionless, bored - probably after doing so many takes, and not appealing to the public).

One more thing... I was really tired of hearing them say "We've done all the hard work for you" - quite an irritating phrase! Why not say "M&S knows best"? Or say something really quirky like... (I can't think right now - but I will think of something!).
