Robocop: The Series

I only ever saw a few episodes of Robocop: The Series and if you'd asked me before today I would've told you it was pretty bad.

For a little while now I've wanted to watch the series from beginning to end and it seems the DVDs are pretty cheap these days ( at least they are if you order them from Amazon UK ) so I ordered a set, so far I've only watched the pilot movie and the first regular episode ( which was based on a comic mini-series I also have ) and I thought they were actually pretty decent.

This series was made in the 90's for network television so of course it couldn't be as violent as the movies which I seem to recall was the cause for a lot of complaints and the TV series departs from the continuity established in the movie series.

The pilot movie was written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner who wrote the script for the original film and is based on their ideas for Robocop 2 which was abandoned when the studio decided to hire Frank Miller to write the screenplay and I think that's a real shame since with a Hollywood feature budget the pilot would've made a great feature film.

So far I've enjoyed what I've seen but it makes me wonder what one of the cable networks could do with this property if the got the rights to it and the people with the creative vision to do a modern Robocop TV series.

Boxing day goodness

Goooooooooood evening bloggers!

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas and an awesome boxing day!

Just a quick post, attempting to get to bed early tonight.

I was so lucky yesterday, got so many prezzies, and they were all so thoughtful, seriously guys, I love you.

My Aunties phoned to wish us all a Merry Christmas, they are too freaking adorable, honestly.

Got Inception and a Pink calendar from my "Not so secret santa" Jennifer, Pink is really one hot mama.

Halle gave me Pink's greatest hits, a pretty blue scarf and Boots body stuff, which has came in useful cause my hands are so dry! Smells gorge too!

Chloe got me some Ted Baker body stuff, but Mum stole the Body Soufflé, which was the stuff that smelt the nicest. Haha,  all you heard was:
MUM: Where's my Soufflé!?
Mum, IT'S NOT YOUR SOUFFLE!!

Michelle gave me the cutest pyjamas ever, Minnie Mouse Represent, and iTunes vouchers, LOVE!

Got a couple of selection boxes this year too!

Megan was such a doll, she painted me one of the photographs I took in Summer, a silhouette of Aberdeen's buildings against a dramatic sunset. It's so beautiful, I absolutely love her for doing that for me... she's so freaking talented.

Mum and Dad took the biscuit though, they managed to get me the Canon 500D <3 I've hardly put it down, I think I've mastered the settings now, such a   brilliant camera.

Mum's Christmas Dinner was actually delicious.

MENU

Starters - Melon slices with Cinnamon sugar... Mmmm hmmm.

Main course - Turkey with roast potatoes, Chipolata's wrapped in bacon, Brie and Cranberry Parcels and Skirley.

Desert - Angel Delight... what? I never said it was a posh meal!

Went up to see my little cousin too

He was SO hyper.

I think he liked the presents we gave him...
CAMERON: It's too much! Too much!
Bless.

He was given a toilet proof camera: Click here to see WHY you should never give Cameron a none-toilet proof camera

I'd like to think that photography runs in the family ;)

Anyways, boxing day.

Was meant to go into town with Halle today... Think I'm coming down with something though.

You see, if I'm not feeling well, I have these freaky dreams.

Why freaky?

They are completely normal.

Yeaaah.

I dreamt that I woke up, got ready and was in town with Halle.

Then I woke up.

Then I went to sleep again, but I tweeted Halle to say I wouldn't be able to make it.

Ended up this happened again and again until 4.30 :P

Then I actually thought that I HAD told Halle I wasn't going to town.

Turned out I didn't... SOOO sorry about that Toots :(

Thought I was going to be sick after Dinner too... Gluttony... SUCKS.

So, I'm currently in bed, Blogging, still reeling from my second viewing of Inception... Got to talk about it... So Inception talk will be in...

RED!

So, obviously, spoilers ahead.

I love this movie so much, for three things in particular

One: Special effects.

How can you NOT fall in love with the floating corridor scenes? Or the dream sequence where Ariadne smashes the mirror to make all those columns? Or where all the water breaks through the windows when Cobb gets submerged in water?

Two: Cobb and Mal's love story.

It's just heartbreaking. They truly loved eachother, at the end when you see them holding hands, as an old couple, on the ledge of the hotel, building sandcastles on the beach, anyone can clearly see that. Cobb did what he thought was right and it backfired on him in a major way, causing him to feel guilty. As punishment, he returns to her every night, just to awake, again and again. So sad.

Three: The ending.

Say what you will, in my humble opinion, I believe that Cobb was NOT dreaming. You can clearly see that Cobb wears his wedding ring in any dream sequence and you know what you can't see in the end scene? That's right, a wedding ring. We could battle over whether or not Cobb was dreaming or not all night, but the real beauty in this scene is the fact that Cobb doesn't care.

He doesn't care if he's dreaming, or if what he's seeing is real, because he's just so happy to see his children. He's just so happy to be home. I love that. I love how Nolan left it open so each audience member can give this film an individual meaning. What a genius.

Yeah. So 23.35 now... better get off to bed! Going to town tomorrow with Halle and Lewis :D

AMIGO DAY OUT!!

Well we made it.

Well it looks as though we survived Christmas without anyone winding up in hospital - well other than Fiona but she works there, at least this time she wasn't a patient.

Food and drink were consumed and far too much spent on presents but it was a reasonable day.

A movie marathon.

As a result of buying a new Plasma screen TV a couple of days ago I've watched a whole bunch of movies. oddly enough most of them weren't in high definition.

Gremlins - A Christmas eve tradition, it's the closest my daughter can get to convincing me to watch a Christmas movie ( either that or Die Hard ).

Robocop: The Future of Law Enforcement ( pilot movie for the TV series ).

Avatar ( Extended Edition ) - it's a fun movie I guess but I'm still failing to see what all the fuss is about.

Mr Vampire 2 - They don't make them like this anymore and that's a bit of a shame.

Family Guy: It's a Trap - Funny at times and not funny at others but I think three Star Wars spoofs is more than enough.

Lost in La Mancha - This documentary still makes me sad, hopefully Terry Gilliam will get to make his Don Quixote movie one day

John Carpenter's The Thing

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ( 1978 ) - This along with John Carpenters version of The Thing are two remakes of classic movies I really enjoy

So... I guess this is Christmas 2010!

Just a very short post, written with chillaxing music in the background (Howie Day -Ghost, If anyone is interested). Just HAD to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

I don't know what it is about Christmas, always make me feel very nostalgic.

In a good way? Yeah.

In a bad way? Yeah...

I don't know, I just want you all to know that I feel incredibly blessed to have all of you in my life.

I tell people that I love them all the time. I'm a very loving person in all honesty. And believe me, if I tell you that I love you, then I do love you and I want you to know how much you mean to me!

So thank you all, just for existing. Thank you thank you thank you!!

To anyone that has lost someone that they love, my deepest sympathy. Carry on loving and laughing because they would hate to think that their passing would make you want to live any less.

And to all of you that are lucky enough to spend Christmas with everyone that they love? You're incredibly lucky. And nothing under your Christmas tree can ever be better than having a Christmas surrounded by your friends and your family.

So cherish the moments. Don't get angry if what you REALLY wanted from Santa isn't under your tree because that's not the real meaning of Christmas... the real meaning of Christmas is being with your family.

Well... it's 0.00! Merry Christmas everyone!!

Lots of love, Lauren xxx

The Chirstmas spirit (HINT: It's not Mulled wine)

Ahhhhhh Christmas.

Thought I'd do a little list of things that need to happen for it to be like Christmas.

Or things that I relate TO Christmas.

Whatever, this blog is X(mas) Rated.

TRADITIONS

The tradition of getting at least one pair of socks as a present from your Aunt Mabel.

The tradition of your Mum burning the turkey and taking a "minor" freak out.

The tradition of doing a little snow dance on Christmas Eve to ensure you get the white Christmas you've always dreamt of.

And, of course, the tradition of spending the entire day with the people you love.

And, of course, this woman:

Your majesty.
Bear attacking your majesty.
Eveeeeeening.

Films/TV shows

Dr Who is always a popular choice...
Until... you know... Daleks went all Hippy on us.

What can I say? Friends holiday specials are still amazing.
Who can forget the episode with the turkey!?

And, of course, the soaps. Where the atmosphere is NEVER merry.
How can you forget Archie Mitchell's death?
Even the snowglobe freaks me out!

Grease...
Why is it on EVERY year?!

This is seriously on every year.
But I'm not complaining!

Classic. This should be on much more often.

But you know what I REALLY want to watch this year?

Na na na na na na na na BATMAN!

Daaaaaamn. Could the drawer make him any more ripped?!

He looks like Arnie on steriods...

"You have reached Arnold's Bulging muscles. I'm not available at the moment but don't worry.... I'll be back. Leave a message after the beep."

Yeah.

Batman Begins is on over the Christmas weekend, can't wait! Been waiting for ages to watch that movie. Christopher Nolan is my hero!

SNOW

I'm sorry, I know a lot of you are getting sick of it now, but you really do need this to make it Christmas.

Hollywood assured that.

EVERY Christmas movie created seems to involve snow in some shape of form.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Where are we without those nuts who go completely over the top?!

Gotta love em.

I'm not that crazy...

Okay. Rephrase.

I don't decorate my house that much.

Hate lying to you guys you see. I am NUTS.

SONGS

My top 20 Christmas Songs:

Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody
Mariah Carey - All i want for Christmas is you
Wizzard - Wish it could be Christmas Everday
Dean Martin - Let it Snow! Let is Snow! Let it Snow!
Mel & Kim - Rockin' around the Christmas Tree
The Pogues - Fairytale of New York (Because what other Holiday song would get away with saying "You scumbag, you faggot?")
Jackson 5 - Santa Claus is coming to town
Eartha Kitt - Santa Baby
Bing Cosby - Winter Wonderland
Perry Como - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Brenda Lee - Jingle Bell rock
Andy Williams - It's the most wonderful time of the year
Luther Vandross - Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Wham! - Last Christmas
Hurts - All I want for Christmas is New years day
McFly - Deck the halls
John Lennon - Happy Christmas (War is over)
Band aid - Do they know it's Christmas time
U2 - Baby please come home
Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmas time

But, to make it REALLY feel like Christmas, you only need one thing:

FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Because what are we without our loved ones?

So, here's hoping you and your loved ones have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hope the big guy is good to you ;)

Oodles of love,

Lauren xxx

P.S. Merry Christmas Eve!

LOLing sessions are good, but make sure you don't choke on your waffle!

Ahhh what a good day.

Went for a meal/to the cinema with Lewis and Abie.

Awwww god I love em! Haha, such a laugh.

Went to Frankie and Benny's for our tea, felt bad for the waiter that had us as his customers, we were so indecisive.

We got talking, and Lewis did this impersonation that had us in hysterics. Seriously, Abie almost choked on her waffle.

We went to go and see "The Tourist" after that, epic film! Gotta love Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie! Loving the ending too. Was pretty cool.

Daaaamn. That was a short blog.

Christmas Eve's Eve yah'll!! Can't believe it's that time of year already...

Soo... wish you all a very merry Christmas Eve and boys?

Have fun shopping tomorrow morning. LAST MINUTE PANIC BUYING HIGH FIVE!
